Kia Sedona Transmission fails at 40,000 miles and warranty void
Jan 29, 2008
Kia Motors complaint
I purchased a 2005 KIA Sedona brand new in 10/2005 and just recently moved across state and put additional mileage on the vehicle. At 40K the transmission failed and van was towed to KIA in which they asked if I had performed the 30K required maintenance and must provide receipts of such in order for the 100K warranty be in effect and for them to order a new transmission.

The 30K maintenance requires a transmission flush and because I had failed to do that at 30K it voided my warranty and cost me out of pocket $2045.00 in which I had fixed at a dealer beside KIA that wanted to charge me $3000. This was very costly to us at a time in which I had curtailed income due to having a new baby and KIA did not care. I will never buy a KIA again and plan on getting rid of the two KIA we own now. Very Pissed.. And will tell everyone and anyone I know that KIA should have a disclaimer in their advertisement of 100K/10Year warranty that it will only honor the warranty if the customer performs the required maintenance. I would hate for this to happen to anyone else. No transmission should fail at 40K even if the transmission was not flushed at 30K, this is a poorly build product.
